About The Publisher: Shavon Stewart

Hello! I’m Shavon Stewart, your local Macaroni KID publisher, community connector, and proud mom of energetic, creative twins who inspire everything I do. I’m married to my wonderful husband, the University Archivist at North Carolina A&T State University. Our family lives in Burlington, NC, but Greensboro will always hold a special place in our hearts—we lived there for over 10 years and still spend much of our time in Greensboro, High Point, and Jamestown for work, play, and volunteering.

My career has always focused on serving families, children, and the community. I began as an Early Childhood Home Visitor with Head Start, supporting families across eastern Greensboro and High Point, learning firsthand the power of early education and meeting families where they are.

I’m also a proud alumna of North Carolina A&T State University and UNC Greensboro. After completing my degrees, I served as an academic librarian at A&T, supporting students, faculty, and researchers with learning, research, and access to information. I also volunteered as an AmeriCorps member with Black Child Development of Greensboro, tutoring hundreds of children at the Vance Chavis branch library.

Today, I continue to connect with local history and storytelling by volunteering with the Greensboro History Museum as a live character actor in their Lifted Voices program, portraying women from Greensboro’s past.

As your Macaroni KID publisher, I bring together my experiences in early childhood education, librarianship, community engagement, and motherhood to highlight the best family-friendly events, activities, and resources across Greensboro, High Point, Jamestown, and surrounding areas.

You might spot my twins and me at a library storytime, exploring a museum, supporting a local business, or attending festivals—please say hello! I’m excited to help your family discover fun, connection, and community—one local adventure at a time.
